My name is Dr. Richard Ezike, and I have the pleasure of serving the community as the 2017 – 2018 President for the National Society of Black Engineers Washington DC Professionals Chapter. Our chapter is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the DC-MD-VA (DMV) community and beyond. The chapter does this through outreach to K-12 students, mentoring and supporting NSBE collegiate chapters at universities in the DMV area, and providing programming and other opportunities for professional development for its members.
As you look through the website, you will get an opportunity to learn more about the chapter’s history, impact, and ways that you can get involved. Consider joining our Pre-College Initiative efforts and participate in the upcoming USA Science and Engineering Festival, help plan our Kids Love Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Festival, or help to develop and participate mentoring sessions with students from our NSBE Jr. chapters. Maybe you are passionate about college students, and you can join our collegiate outreach efforts to provide mentoring and guidance to the NSBE members at the local universities like Georgetown, George Washington, and the University of Maryland College Park. You can help support our membership by assisting in the development of programs and events that provide professional development, such as achieving financial success, studying for a certification, or providing access to training courses. Or you can help plan our signature event – the Scholarship Gala – which is the chapter’s primary fundraiser for our Future Innovators Scholarship Program and helps to raise funds to provide academic and book scholarships for seniors in the DMV area planning to attend any college in the country to study in a STEM-related field. These are just a sampling of the many ways you can get involved!
We encourage you to support the chapter’s mission. Become a member and reap the benefits of being a part of the largest chapter by membership in the NSBE Professionals division. Feel free to donate whatever you can to support our programming. If you are a representative of a company, please reach out to our Finance Chair Chinomnso Maduka at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about you can support our programming.
Thank you for your support over the last 29 years!
